We have developed a door-to-door figure of 8 walk in conjunction with The Forest of Bowland team and Margaret Wright at Cobden Farm B and B at Sabden. This walk takes in the best of Sabden Valley.
Height Top Farm, Cobden Farm, Sabden, Circular (pdf)
Short walks (less than 5 miles)
Sabden Fold, Watery Lane, Dean Farm and back up to Dean Height. A mixture of field and track, mostly off road. Can be wet even in summer but so peaceful it's worth it! Rigg of England and back to Height Top. Mostly off road.
Medium walks (5 to 10 miles)
Sabden Fold, Watery Lane, Hob Wood, Stainscomb, Rattenclough Dean Farm and Dean Height. Again a mixture of field track and road. A lovely walk where you will see the two storey porch and an original oak pegged door at Stainscomb which is reputed to be haunted!
Down to Gawthorpe Hall and back via Pendle Hall. Through the gate opposite the door and down to Higham Village. Cross the main road towards Fir Trees. Cross to High Whittaker and down to grove Lane. Gawthorpe Hall in front. Follow the track to Pendle Hall, turn left up to Foxendole, cross the road and back up to Height Top.
Long walks (more than 10 miles)
Sabden Way was created by the late Colin Cooke, who inspired many to walk Sabden Valley and Pendle Hill's many footpaths.
We have a DVD of the Sabden Way which you can view. It records the walk, about nine miles, around the parish boundary.
